Artist Biography

Kate Snow is a painter, printmaker, and installation artist in Cleveland, OH. After beginning fine arts study at college, Kate’s educational path was interrupted and reshaped by chronic illness. Needing a more accessible and inclusive learning environment, she continued her artistic training through the community-based printmaking studio, Zygote Press. From 2010–2020, she worked with and learned from local and international fine art printmakers to hone her skills and deepen her practice, ultimately going on to serve as co-Executive Director of the organization.

She began exhibiting in 2015, and her work has since been shown across the United States and in Germany. Primarily a monochromatic abstract painter, she uses nontraditional tools and elements of design to explore themes related to time and the concept of slowness. Her recent foray into installation work, primarily addressing issues around chronic illness and disability, has garnered significant support.

She has attended a number of residencies, including The Studios at Key West, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and the Grafikwerkstatt in Dresden, Germany. Her work can be found nationally in many private and corporate collections, including MetroHealth Hospitals and Westin Hotels, and in 2018 she was selected to create the season awards for the Cleveland International Film Festival. Kate has earned multiple grants and awards, including the Ohio Arts Council’s Individual Excellence Award in 2021.
